This class meets the Summit Area Specialist requirement for 2 Hours of Elective Credits. You must stay for the entire event to qualify. 


You will get a 10,000 (closer to 9,017’ elevation) view of the Dillon Reservoir, Dam and Denver Water. John will discuss a brief history of the reservoir and a bit about the operations of the dam. He will also explain the impact of water, not just in Summit County, but down river and many connected reservoirs.

Instructor Bio:

John Blackwell is the Western Slope District Manager for Denver Water, overseeing operations of Dillon & Williams Fork Reservoir. John has a Master’s Degree in Management and a specialization in Project Management. He is also an Adjunct Professor in Business for Colorado Mountain College, a Board Member for Dillon Valley Metropolitan District, and a previous board member with Blue River Watershed Group. John has been a Resident of Summit County since 1996.
